Pricing Management: YoYo Spiral Upward Effect
It’s a competitive market out there and everyone has their own winning strategies. Stay ahead of the game by setting a YoYo Spiral Upward Effect to spike the price, have your competitors follow, then drop again to keep the Buy Box to yourself and win the buy box.
Since competitors may be using their own algorithms to follow your pricing decisions the YoYo spiral upward effect makes them follow you up. Allowing you to keep the advantage of being the first to decide the next price.
How it works:
When the YoYo Spiral Upward Effect is activated:
- Scheduled Price Increase: Your product price will automatically increase according to the value and time interval you specify. For example, you might choose to increase the price by 5% every 48 hours.
- Fixed Price Window: Once the price is updated, it will remain fixed for the duration of the specified time interval. This prevents other pricing rules or automations from altering the price during this period.
- Exclusive Rule Enforcement: During the active interval, no other pricing rules (e.g., undercutting, price matching, or discounting) will be applied. This ensures that your upward pricing strategy proceeds without interference.
- Competitor Dependency: This rule requires at least one competitor to be present for the SKU. Without a competitor, the YoYo Spiral Upward Effect will not trigger.
- Reactivation on Competitor Change: If a competitor increases their price within your active interval, the YoYo Spiral rule may reapply, allowing your price to move upward again in response to the market.
- Reseller SKUs Only: This feature is exclusive to Reseller SKUs. It will not work on non-reseller or brand-owned listings.
Important Note: No other pricing rule will work during this period and there needs to be at least one competitor for this setting to work. If competitors increase their prices in the entered time interval, the setting will be applied again.
The YoYo Spiral Effect Settings
The YoYo Spiral Effect feature can be enabled in store-level or SKU-level.
Store-Level Settings
- Go to the Pricing Management tab
- Click on Store Level Settings
- Go to Other Pricing Settings Section and search for the YoYo Spiral Effect feature
- Toggle the button to enable the setting

SKU-Level Settings
- Go to the Pricing Management tab
- Search for the SKU’s card where you want to activate the setting
- Click on Pricing Settings

- Within the Pricing Settings, go to the Competitive Pricing Section
- Search for the YoYo Spiral Upward Effect option and put tick the checkbox

YoYo Spiral Effect Parameters
Once you have enabled the setting on either the store-level or SKU-level,
- You have the option to increase price by either a specific amount or percentage. Once you have selected, add the specific amount or percentage you desire
- Set the frequency for when you want Eva to increase the price (Set Hours) and for how long you want to stay at that price (Set Minutes)
Important Considerations
- Ensure competitors are present and active on the listing.
- Choose your interval and price increase step carefully to avoid pricing out of the market.
- Monitor competitor behavior and sales performance during the spiral to fine-tune your strategy.
