Smart Sending & Message Frequency Rules

What Is Smart Sending?
Smart Sending is a delivery safeguard that prevents recipients from receiving too many messages within a short period of time. It helps control message frequency and reduces the risk of overwhelming recipients with repeated communications.
When Smart Sending is enabled, EVA automatically skips profiles that have recently received other messages.
How Smart Sending Works
Smart Sending evaluates recent messaging activity before a campaign is delivered.
If a profile received another message within the defined suppression window, that profile may be excluded from the campaign delivery.
This check occurs during campaign delivery to ensure recipients are not contacted too frequently.
Message Suppression Rules
Additional suppression settings allow you to exclude recipients who recently received other types of messages.
Skip profiles who received a campaign message
This option excludes profiles who received another campaign message within the defined time window.
The default suppression window is 16 hours.
Skip profiles who received a flow message

This option excludes profiles who recently received an automated flow message.
This helps prevent overlap between automated lifecycle messages and manual campaign sends.
How Smart Sending Affects Recipient Counts
Smart Sending and suppression rules may reduce the number of final recipients compared to the Estimated recipients value.
Profiles that meet suppression conditions are excluded during campaign delivery.
Why Smart Sending Matters
Smart Sending helps maintain a balanced messaging experience by:
- preventing excessive communication
- reducing message fatigue
- protecting engagement rates
- avoiding conflicts between campaigns and automated flows
Using Smart Sending helps ensure campaigns are delivered in a controlled and responsible way.
