How To Analyze My Shopify Product Variants?
The Shopify Catalog allows you to review and analyze your Shopify products at the variant level.
Each row represents a variant, which means you can evaluate product performance and structure in more detail compared to product-level views.
Step 1: Open the Shopify Catalog

- Navigate to Catalog
- Select the Shopify Catalog tab
This view displays all Shopify products and their variants.
Step 2: Understand variant-level structure

In the Shopify Catalog:
- each row represents a variant
- a single product may appear as multiple rows
- each variant has its own attributes such as SKU, price, and inventory
This allows you to analyze products at a more granular level.
Step 3: Search for specific variants

Use the Search bar to locate variants quickly.
You can search using:
- product name
- SKU
- variant ID
This is useful when working with products that have multiple variations.
Step 4: Apply filters

Click Filter to refine the dataset.
Available filters may include:
- price
- inventory-related fields
- tags
Filters help you isolate specific groups of variants for analysis.
Step 5: Switch between view modes

You can change how data is displayed:
- Cards View for visual browsing
- Table View for structured analysis
Both views use the same underlying dataset.
Step 6: Customize columns

In Table view, click Columns to adjust visible fields.
You can:
- show or hide variant-specific attributes
- reorder columns
- create custom layouts
This allows you to tailor the interface to your analysis needs.
Step 7: Analyze variant data
Each variant includes detailed data such as:
- SKU
- price
- inventory
- variant identifiers
This helps you compare variations of the same product and identify differences.
Step 8: Identify products for matching or updates
Use selection and filtering to:
- identify variants that need matching
- prepare products for cost updates
- organize product groups
This allows you to move from analysis to action efficiently.
Pro Tip
Focus on SKU and variant-level differences when analyzing Shopify products, as multiple variants of the same product may behave differently.
