Tags System for Lists & Segments
The Tags system allows you to organize lists and segments using custom labels. Tags make it easier to categorize audience groups and locate them quickly when managing campaigns or building automation workflows.
Instead of relying only on audience names, tags provide an additional layer of organization that helps structure the Lists & Segments table.
What Tags Are
A tag is a label that can be attached to a list or segment. Tags help identify the purpose or category of an audience group.
For example, teams might create tags such as:
- newsletter
- VIP customers
- promotions
- testing
- seasonal campaigns
Once a tag is applied, it becomes visible in the Tags column of the Lists & Segments table.
Why Tags Are Useful
As the number of lists and segments increases, managing audiences becomes more complex. Tags help teams keep audience groups organized and easier to locate.
Using tags allows teams to:
- group related audiences together
- quickly identify the purpose of a list or segment
- filter the audience table more efficiently
- maintain a structured segmentation system
This helps prevent confusion when multiple teams work with the same audience database.
Filtering by Tags
The Tags filter located above the audience table allows users to narrow the list of audiences based on assigned tags.
When a tag is selected:
- the table updates to display only lists and segments that contain that tag
- unrelated audiences are temporarily hidden from the view
This filtering method is especially helpful when working with a large number of audience groups.
Tags in the Audience Table
When a tag is assigned to a list or segment, it appears in the Tags column in the Lists & Segments table.
This provides quick visual context about how the audience group is categorized without needing to open the list or segment.
Tags therefore serve both as:
- organizational labels
- filtering tools
Maintaining Tag Organization
Tags are most effective when teams use them consistently. Establishing a clear tagging structure helps ensure that audience groups remain easy to navigate as the audience database grows.
For example, teams may organize tags around:
- campaign type
- marketing objective
- customer lifecycle stage
- testing environments
Using a consistent tagging structure helps keep audience management scalable and easier to maintain over time.
