SMS Preview & Send Test
What is the SMS preview?
The SMS preview panel in the SMS Template Editor shows how a message will appear on a mobile device before it is sent to recipients. This preview helps users verify the visual formatting of the message and ensure that the content is displayed correctly.
The preview panel is designed to simulate the appearance of an SMS message on a phone screen. As the message is written or edited, the preview updates automatically.
This allows users to immediately see the impact of any changes made to the message content.
What the preview shows
The SMS preview displays the message exactly as it will appear to the recipient.
The preview typically includes:
- the SMS message text
- inserted personalization variables
- emojis used in the message
- the full message structure including header, body, and footer
By displaying the message in a mobile-style interface, the preview helps users confirm that the message remains clear and readable.
Why previewing messages is important
Previewing SMS messages helps prevent common messaging issues before a campaign is launched.
For example, previewing allows users to detect:
- formatting problems
- unexpected line breaks
- incorrectly placed variables
- messages that appear too long or unclear
Reviewing the preview before saving the template ensures that the final message is properly structured.
Sending a test message
In addition to previewing the SMS inside the editor, users may also send a test message to verify how the SMS appears on an actual mobile device.
Sending a test message allows users to confirm the real delivery appearance of the SMS. This is particularly useful for verifying message readability, emojis, and personalization variables.
Testing messages before using them in campaigns helps reduce the risk of sending incorrectly formatted or incomplete SMS communications.
