Segment Management: Creating, Recomputing & Managing Segments
Segments are dynamic audience groups that automatically include profiles matching defined conditions. Because segments depend on customer data and behavior, EVA provides tools for creating, recalculating, and managing segments directly from the Lists & Segments page.
These controls ensure that segment membership always reflects the latest available data.
Creating a Segment
Segments are created from the Create menu in the Lists & Segments page.
Users can start the creation process by clicking:
Create → Create Segment
During segment creation, users define the conditions that determine which profiles belong to the audience.
These conditions can be based on:
- profile attributes
- behavioral data
- engagement signals
- purchase activity
- communication interactions
Once the segment rules are defined and saved, EVA calculates which profiles match the conditions and displays the current member count in the audience table.
Dynamic Segment Membership
Unlike lists, segments update automatically based on profile data.
When a profile meets the defined rules, it is included in the segment. If the profile no longer matches the rules, it is removed.
This dynamic behavior allows segments to represent live audience groups that evolve as customer data changes.
Recomputing Segments
Segments may require recomputation to ensure their membership reflects the most recent data.
Recomputing a segment triggers EVA to:
- re-evaluate the segmentation rules
- refresh the list of matching profiles
- update the member count shown in the table
Users can trigger recomputation from the segment actions available in the interface.
Recomputing is useful when:
- profile data has recently changed
- new customers have entered the system
- segmentation rules were modified
- an updated audience size needs to be verified before launching a campaign
Managing Existing Segments
Segments can be reviewed and managed directly from the Lists & Segments table.
Available actions typically include:
- View – review the profiles currently included in the segment
- Recompute – refresh the segment membership
- Delete – remove the segment if it is no longer needed
These controls allow teams to maintain an organized segmentation system and ensure that audience definitions remain accurate over time.
Using Segments in Campaigns
Once a segment is created, it becomes available when selecting audiences for:
- email campaigns
- SMS campaigns
- automation flows
Because segments are dynamic, they help ensure that campaigns always target the most relevant profiles based on the latest data.
