Profile Status Logic: Active vs Suppressed Profiles
In EVA Conversion Intelligence, each customer profile has a communication status that determines whether the contact can receive marketing messages.
The Profiles dashboard separates contacts into two primary states:
- Active Profiles
- Suppressed Profiles
Understanding this distinction is important because only active profiles are eligible to receive communications through campaigns or automation flows.
Active Profiles
Active profiles represent contacts who are currently eligible to receive marketing communications.
These profiles can be included when sending:
- email campaigns
- SMS campaigns
- automation flows
- targeted segments
A profile is considered active when the contact has not opted out of communication channels and no suppression rules apply.
Active profiles appear in the Active Profiles counter at the top of the Profiles page and remain available for audience targeting.
Suppressed Profiles
Suppressed profiles represent contacts who cannot receive marketing communications.
Suppression prevents messages from being sent to contacts who have opted out or who should not receive marketing messages due to compliance rules.
Common reasons a profile may become suppressed include:
- the contact unsubscribed from email marketing
- the contact opted out of SMS communications
- platform-level compliance restrictions
- system-level suppression settings
When a profile is suppressed, EVA automatically excludes the contact from campaigns and flows to prevent unauthorized communication.
Viewing Suppressed Profiles
The Profiles page provides a dedicated option to review suppressed contacts.
Users can access these records by clicking View suppressed profiles from the dashboard area.
This allows teams to:
- review suppressed contacts
- investigate opt-out events
- verify compliance status
- confirm why a profile is excluded from campaigns
Why Suppression Matters
Suppression plays an important role in maintaining compliance and audience quality.
By automatically excluding suppressed contacts from campaigns, EVA helps teams:
- respect subscriber preferences
- avoid sending unwanted messages
- maintain healthy email and SMS deliverability
- comply with communication regulations
For this reason, suppression is handled automatically and is applied across all campaign and automation targeting.
