Global Styles & Template Styling
Overview

The Styles tab in the Email Builder allows you to define the overall visual appearance of your template.
While individual content elements can be styled separately, the Styles tab provides a centralized way to control the design of the entire template. This helps maintain consistency across all sections of the email and reduces the need to style each element individually.
Understanding how global styling works is important for building visually consistent and scalable email templates.
What are global styles
Global styles are template-level design settings that apply across multiple elements in the email.
Instead of configuring styling for each block separately, global styles allow you to define shared visual rules such as:
- colors
- typography
- button appearance
- spacing behavior
These settings create a unified design system for the template.
Where to access styles
Global styles are managed from the Styles tab in the Email Builder.
When selected, this tab provides controls for adjusting the visual properties of the template.
Changes made here affect the overall appearance of the email rather than a single selected element.
What can be styled
The Styles tab allows you to control key visual aspects of the template, including:
Typography
Defines how text appears across the template, including:
- font choices
- text size
- line spacing
Colors
Controls the color system of the email, such as:
- background colors
- text colors
- button colors
Buttons
Defines the default styling for buttons, including:
- shape and size
- color
- alignment
Spacing
Controls how space is distributed across the template, helping maintain consistent visual balance.
How global styles work with content
Global styles act as a baseline for the template.
This means:
- Blocks inherit styling from the global settings
- Individual elements can still be adjusted if needed
- Consistency is maintained unless overridden manually
This balance allows both standardization and flexibility.
Why global styling matters
Using global styles helps you:
- maintain a consistent visual identity across emails
- reduce repetitive styling work
- make updates more efficient
- ensure templates remain visually aligned with brand guidelines
Without global styling, templates can become inconsistent and harder to manage over time.
