AI Bid Decisions Explained
AI Bid Decisions represent the automated adjustments made by EVA to the bidding values used in advertising campaigns.
Bids determine how competitive an advertisement is during the advertising auction process. Because advertising placements are awarded through real-time auctions, adjusting bids can significantly affect campaign visibility, traffic volume, and advertising efficiency.
EVA continuously evaluates campaign performance metrics and applies bid adjustments when predefined optimization conditions are met. These adjustments are recorded in the AI Decisions page so advertisers can review how the system is optimizing campaign bidding behavior.
Purpose of AI bid optimization

The objective of AI bid decisions is to improve campaign performance by dynamically adjusting bids in response to performance signals.
By modifying bids automatically, EVA can:
- increase competitiveness for high-performing targets
- reduce spending on inefficient targets
- maintain alignment with defined performance targets
- react more quickly to performance changes than manual optimization
This allows campaigns to remain competitive while maintaining efficiency based on the advertiser’s optimization strategy.
When bid decisions occur
Bid decisions occur when EVA evaluates campaign performance data and determines that a bid adjustment is required.
These decisions are typically triggered by optimization rules configured within the advertising optimization system.
Optimization rules usually follow an IF → THEN logic structure, where performance conditions determine the action applied to a bid.
For example:
IF ACoS is higher than the defined target
THEN decrease the bid
Or:
IF sales performance is strong and ACoS is within target
THEN increase the bid
When these conditions are satisfied, the system automatically adjusts the bid and records the action in the AI Decisions log.
Types of bid adjustments
AI bid decisions typically fall into two categories:
Bid increases
Bid increases occur when EVA determines that a campaign or target is performing well and additional traffic could improve results.
Increasing bids can help:
- win more auctions
- increase ad visibility
- capture additional traffic from relevant search queries
Bid increases are commonly applied to high-performing targets that generate strong sales or efficient advertising performance.
Bid decreases
Bid decreases occur when EVA identifies that a target is spending inefficiently or performing below the defined performance threshold.
Reducing bids helps:
- limit inefficient spend
- prevent overspending on low-performing search terms
- improve overall campaign efficiency
Bid reductions are often triggered when metrics such as ACoS exceed the desired threshold or when conversion performance declines.
Where bid decisions appear
When EVA adjusts a bid automatically, the action is recorded in the AI Decisions table.
Each bid decision entry typically includes information such as:
- the campaign or target affected
- the action performed (increase or decrease)
- the rule responsible for the change
- the time the decision was executed
This allows advertisers to review and audit the bid adjustments applied by the automation system.
Monitoring bid optimization behavior
Reviewing AI bid decisions helps advertisers understand how the system is optimizing campaign performance.
By analyzing bid adjustments over time, advertisers can evaluate whether automation is responding appropriately to performance trends.
If needed, advertisers can adjust optimization rules or campaign strategies to refine how automated bid optimization behaves.
